Free trial

How does the 14-day free trial work?

Trials start on our top Pro Plan, giving you unrestricted access to all Bugsnag features free for 14 days. At the end of your trial, you’ll need to select to a plan to continue using Bugsnag.

What happens if I upgrade during my free trial?

You can select a plan at any time during your 14-day free trial. We won’t charge you until the end of your trial.

Event usage & overages

What is an event?

An event is an error reported by your application: either an unhandled exception (often called a crash) that has been detected by Bugsnag, or any handled exceptions that you choose to report.

What is a collaborator?

A collaborator is the name we use for anyone who logs into Bugsnag. Each software engineer, admin or manager needs their own login credentials.

What happens if I exceed my daily event quota?

Bugsnag plans come with a daily quota on the number of events we will process and save. We provide two options for handling daily event quota overages.

  1. Capture every event: With this option selected, we’ll capture and save every event during unexpected event overages at no additional cost, even if you exceed your daily quota by a large amount. If you exceed your daily limit more than 3 times in a 30 day rolling window, we’ll automatically upgrade you to the next plan tier. We’ll notify your billing contacts each time you exceed your daily quota, giving you plenty of time to manage your event usage and prevent an automatic upgrade.
  2. Sampling: With this option selected, we’ll begin intelligently sampling your events. You’ll always see new types of errors, but individual events can be lost, making it harder to investigate customer complaints and evaluate the impact of errors based on user and event counts. Bugsnag Administrators can configure their plan’s event overage strategy from their plans and billing settings page.


If you are on a plan with sampling enabled, we will begin sampling events as you approach your daily event quota to ensure coverage throughout the entire day. We’ll always notify you via email when our sampling system has kicked in.

When sampling events, we’ll always process the first occurrence of an error we haven’t seen before and will prioritize unhandled exceptions over handled exceptions. In some circumstances, our sampling strategy prevents us from processing and saving your entire daily quota. This can happen if you send us a large number of events early in the day (UTC time) and then relatively few towards the end of the day, as our sampling strategy attempts to provide you with coverage throughout the day.

Payment and cancellation

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club. Payments are powered by Stripe.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. You have the option of being billed monthly on Team plans, and you can cancel anytime. Alternatively, you can pay yearly and receive a discount.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. After you cancel your subscription you’ll be moved to our limited Free Plan and you won’t be charged again unless you choose to upgrade to a paid plan in the future.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. When you pay for Bugsnag annually, you’ll receive one month free. This option is available when you select a plan in your Bugsnag Settings.

Invoices and receipts

Where can I find my Bugsnag invoices?

Invoices are always available to view and download in PDF format from your settings dashboard.

Go to Settings > Plans and billing > Invoices.

The billing contacts for your organization will also receive a copy of every invoice, attached in PDF format.
