We at Bugsnag know you care about how your personal information is used and shared and we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our Privacy Notice.
This Privacy Notice is written for visitors to our various publicly accessible websites which include bugsnag.com, docs.bugsnag.com and other websites where this Privacy Notice is published (Visitors). For ease, we call all these publicly accessible websites collectively the Site for short. The Site does not include our account portal, or other access to our Services that you get when you sign up for an account with Bugsnag.
This Privacy Notice also is written for Customers who use our software-as-a-service applications and other products and services (collectively, the Services) that we provide to customers who have purchased our Services (Customers). If you are a Customer then this Privacy Notice is incorporated into your Services agreement with Bugsnag.
By using or accessing the Site or Services as a Visitor or a Customer you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Notice and you hereby consent that we will collect, use and share your information in the ways outlined in this Privacy Notice.
For this Privacy Notice, the words our, us, we, and Bugsnag refer to Bugsnag, Inc., and our affiliates, if any, (which includes any person or entity that controls us, is controlled by us, or is under common control with us, such as our subsidiary (if applicable), parent company (if applicable), or our employees).
This Privacy Notice covers our treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect and receive when you access our Site or Services (“Personal Information”). This Privacy Notice does not cover the practices of companies we don’t own or control or people that we don’t manage. We use this Personal Information to provide a meaningful, safe, efficient and customized experience.
We use this Personal Information:
In certain cases, we may also share some Personal Information with third parties, but only as described below.
You have the opportunity to choose whether your Personal Information will be disclosed by Bugsnag to third parties in the manner described in this Notice. Bugsnag will not use your Personal Information for any purpose that is materially different than the purposes for which it was originally collected or received, as described in this Notice, or the purposes which you otherwise authorized. Please review this Notice for ways in which you can exercise choice about Bugsnag’s use of your Personal Information.
We receive and store any information you knowingly provide to us.

When you contact us we may collect other Personal Information you want to provide, such as your phone number and location.
What we do with this information: We use this information to communicate with you and to provide the Services to you. For example, if you’ve given us your email address, we may send you an email about your use of the Site or for customer support purposes. Also, we may receive a confirmation when you open an email from us. This confirmation helps us make our communications with you more interesting and improve our Services. If you do not want to receive communications from us, please indicate your preference by opting out via the links provided in the emails.
When you purchase a Plan. When you purchase a Plan on the Site you must provide your email address, first and last name, credit card number, card expiration date and card CVC code. The credit card information is encrypted and transmitted for storage to a high security vault according to strict industry standards. Once the data reaches the vault it is “tokenized”. No credit card information is retained in Bugsnag’s own systems. Your credit card information is not exposed anywhere in our own systems. Please do not send your credit card information to our team directly, for example by emailing this information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use our secure, online system to enter your credit card information.
What we do with this information: We use this information, along with your email, for billing purposes, to fulfill your purchase and to communicate with you about your purchase.
Offline Information. As you might expect, we usually collect or receive information through our Site. But we also may collect information offline and it’s important to us that we preserve the privacy of your Personal Information both online and off. For example, if we speak with you by phone as part of our sales process, we may ask for your location. There are other ways we could learn of Personal Information offline, but this Privacy Notice doesn’t try to predict all those methods. We just want you to know that we try to treat offline information collection, uses and disclosures consistently with our online privacy practices.

Like most websites, our Site automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser or device, which may include your IP address, geolocation data, device identification, browser type, internet service provider, the referring/exit pages, the page you requested and “cookie” information. “Cookies” are identifiers we transfer to your browser or device that allow us to recognize your browser or device. The Bugsnag Services monitor errors in web, mobile and server applications and programs. Each Bugsnag Customer provides Bugsnag with error and crash Event Data from the Customer’s applications and programs. Event Data may contain personal information of the Customer’s end user. This means that if you are an end user of a service provided by a Bugsnag Customer, then Bugsnag may receive Personal Information about you from the Bugsnag Customer.
Not all Customers provide Personal Information about their end users to Bugsnag. Customers use the Services dashboard to control or block the use of end user Personal Information by the Services.
What we do with this information: Bugsnag is a data processor of Event Data, and processes Event Data only as directed by the Customer and only to provide the Service to the Customer. Only a limited group of Bugsnag employees with a need to know can access Event Data. Bugsnag encrypts Event Data in transit and at rest and uses multi-factor authentication to further secure this information.
Please review Section 7 for more information about Event Data.
We are not data brokers. We do not rent or sell your Personal Information to anyone. We may share your Personal Information with third parties as described in this section, but only to the extent necessary to assist us in providing the Site and Services to you.

Our business partners and vendors do not have any right to use the Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us with these tasks.
Some of Bugsnag’s third party vendors may recognize a unique tracking code used by your browser or application to enable you to receive customized content or to enable you to use other technologies such as tags and scripts. The tracking code may reflect de-identified demographic or other data linked to data you provide. When we employ other companies to perform functions of this nature, we only disclose the information that they need to perform their requested function. We do not authorize them to retain, share, store or use Personal Information provided by us for any other purpose.
We may choose to buy or sell assets from time to time. We may share Personal Information in connection with the evaluation of such transactions. We may transfer Personal Information if we enter into such transactions. Also, if we (or our assets) are acquired or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy or go through some other change of control, Personal Information could be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by a third party.
